The Group of Seven and The Group of Six

At 7:15 this morning a group of seven of us took off from Juniper Beach and began an extended swim to the Point just before Cosens Beach, a distance of 2.7 km one way. The water was just over 20 degrees at the beach for the first time this year in the morning. Conditions were calm, only slightly rippled until we got past Gary's Log. In our Group of Seven, five had wetsuits while two of us swam naked. It was noted that everyone in wetsuits did a "wiggle" to get that last bit of flesh tucked securely in their wetsuits. I think it's more of a "wriggle" but wiggle sounds more interesting.

I wonder how many of the rest of us do a "wiggle" as we shoehorn our bodies into the rubber. Some of us like Sean, Monty, Robynne and Kylie will have to rack our brains to remember!
At 8:00 the Group of Six took off from Juniper Beach under moderately calm conditions.
The Group of Seven arrived back at Gary's Log at 8:36 am, precisely when we should be meeting up with the rest of the swimmers. When we arrived, there was nobody to be seen, only the faint sight of some swim buddies near the Painted Rocks in the distance. That's when Sean made the astute observation that we weren't meeting anyone because all of the usual Gary's Log swimmers were already there i.e. us.
We hightailed it back from there back to the Point under what were now moderately choppy conditions. We did make it back to Juniper Beach in time to meet with the Group of Six who had taken their time dressing, thereby upholding our reputation as a group of seriously social open water swimmers!
We meet again at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, doing a much shorter swim and hopefully all leaving in a single group.
