Beating the Heat
July 18th
Only five of us chose a lake swim yesterday to beat the 36 degree heat, although the two in wetsuits likely did not beat it by much. The 23 degree water was very pleasant for the three of us who swam naked. Unfortunately, with the wind coming from the north, Juniper Bay was quite choppy. The boat traffic made it worse, especially out at the Point.
The calm water on the Cosens Bay side enticed Renee and David to carry
on to the Painted Rocks while Selena, Darin and I slogged back to the
beach through the waves. David enjoyed having someone to swim with him
on the far side, until Renee summoned her private
yacht to take her back before she hit the waves in Juniper Bay (without
even offering David a beer no less).
Tomorrow is the Across The lake Swim in Kelowna, the largest of all of
the swims in terms of participation. Of the approximately 1000 swimmers
entered, there are several from this email group. I wish you all a great
and satisfying swim tomorrow!
We will swim again at 8:00 on Sunday morning.
