Today’s swim was definitely the calm after the storm. Yesterday’s Across the Lake Swim in Kelowna had the windiest conditions they’ve had for that race in years and finish times MUCH slower than normal. Today however we had conditions that would’ve been welcomed yesterday with clear skies, no wind, and calm flat water. 12 of us suited up—with seven wearing what Mike calls “wuss suits” and five swimming naked. After a long chat at Rattlesnake Point, seven decided to go on to visit Gary’s Stump while five of us turned back for the beach. A few boats caused a some small waves and a slightly rising wind brought a bit of ripple to the water on the way back. When the swimmers (now increased to 8 swimmers after Makella joined at the far end) returned from “Gary’s Stump” they were happy to report that the log has been returned to perfect health! The reports of its death were incorrect or exaggerated!! We are all happy that the log is back! We hope to see all of you out for the evening swims this week—5:30 Tuesday & Thursday, and those of us who didn’t race yesterday hope to hear more of the stories from this year’s Across the Lake Swim!
